The Acts of the Apostles     6: 1-7

6:1In those days, as the number of disciples was increasing, there occurred a murmuring of the Greeks against the Hebrews, because their widows were treated with disdain in the daily ministration.
6:2And so the twelve, calling together the multitude of the disciples, said: “It is not fair for us to leave behind the Word of God to serve at tables also.
6:3Therefore, brothers, search among yourselves for seven men of good testimony, filled with the Holy Spirit and with wisdom, whom we may appoint over this work.
6:4Yet truly, we will be continually in prayer and in the ministry of the Word.”
6:5And the plan pleased the entire multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man filled with faith and with the Holy Spirit, and Philip and Prochorus and Nicanor and Timon and Parmenas and Nicolas, a new arrival from Antioch.
6:6These they set before the sight of the Apostles, and while praying, they imposed hands on them.
6:7And the Word of the Lord was increasing, and the number of disciples in Jerusalem was multiplied exceedingly. And even a large group of the priests were obedient to the faith.

The Holy Gospel According to John     6: 16-21

6:16Then, when evening arrived, his disciples descended to the sea.
6:17And when they had climbed into a boat, they went across the sea to Capernaum. And darkness had now arrived, and Jesus had not returned to them.
6:18Then the sea was stirred up by a great wind that was blowing.
6:19And so, when they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they saw Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing near to the boat, and they were afraid.
6:20But he said to them: “It is I. Do not be afraid.”
6:21Therefore, they were willing to receive him into the boat. But immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.

The Acts of the Apostles    5: 34-42

5:34But someone in the council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law honored by all the people, rose up and ordered the men to be put outside briefly.
5:35And he said to them: “Men of Israel, you should be careful in your intentions about these men.
5:36For before these days, Theudas stepped forward, asserting himself to be someone, and a number of men, about four hundred, joined with him. But he was killed, and all who believed in him were scattered, and they were reduced to nothing.
5:37After this one, Judas the Galilean stepped forward, in the days of the enrollment, and he turned the people toward himself. But he also perished, and all of them, as many as had joined with him, were dispersed.
5:38And now therefore, I say to you, withdraw from these men and leave them alone. For if this counsel or work is of men, it will be broken.
5:39Yet truly, if it is of God, you will not be able to break it, and perhaps you might be found to have fought against God.” And they agreed with him.
5:40And calling in the Apostles, having beaten them, they warned them not to speak at all in the name of Jesus. And they dismissed them.
5:41And indeed, they went forth from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were considered worthy to suffer insult on behalf of the name of Jesus.
5:42And every day, in the temple and among the houses, they did not cease to teach and to evangelize Christ Jesus.

    Gospel

The Holy Gospel According to John    6: 1-15

6:1After these things, Jesus traveled across the sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias.
6:2And a great multitude was following him, for they saw the signs that he was accomplishing toward those who were infirm.
6:3Therefore, Jesus went onto a mountain, and he sat down there with his disciples.
6:4Now the Passover, the feast day of the Jews, was near.
6:5And so, when Jesus had lifted up his eyes and had seen that a very great multitude came to him, he said to Philip, “From where should we buy bread, so that these may eat?”
6:6But he said this to test him. For he himself knew what he would do.
6:7Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii of bread would not be sufficient for each of them to receive even a little.”
6:8One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him:
6:9“There is a certain boy here, who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are these among so many?”
6:10Then Jesus said, “Have the men sit down to eat.” Now, there was much grass in that place. And so the men, in number about five thousand, sat down to eat.
6:11Therefore, Jesus took the bread, and when he had given thanks, he distributed it to those who were sitting down to eat; similarly also, from the fish, as much as they wanted.
6:12Then, when they were filled, he said to his disciples, “Gather the fragments that are left over, lest they be lost.”
6:13And so they gathered, and they filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which were left over from those who had eaten.
6:14Therefore, those men, when they had seen that Jesus had accomplished a sign, they said, “Truly, this one is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
6:15And so, when he realized that they were going to come and take him away and make him king, Jesus fled back to the mountain, by himself alone.

The Acts of the Apostles    5: 27-33

5:27And when they had brought them, they stood them before the council. And the high priest questioned them,
5:28and said: “We strongly order you not to teach in this name. For behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and you wish to bring the blood of this man upon us.”
5:29But Peter and the Apostles responded by saying: “It is necessary to obey God, more so than men.
5:30The God of our fathers has raised up Jesus, whom you put to death by hanging him on a tree.
5:31It is he whom God has exalted at his right hand as Ruler and Savior, so as to offer repentance and the remission of sins to Israel.
5:32And we are witnesses of these things, with the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to all who are obedient to him.”
5:33When they had heard these things, they were deeply wounded, and they were planning to put them to death.

    Gospel

The Holy Gospel According to John    3: 31-36

3:31He who comes from above, is above everything. He who is from below, is of the earth, and he speaks about the earth. He who comes from heaven is above everything.
3:32And what he has seen and heard, about this he testifies. And no one accepts his testimony.
3:33Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified that God is truthful.
3:34For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God. For God does not give the Spirit by measure.
3:35The Father loves the Son, and he has given everything into his hand.
3:36Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. But whoever is unbelieving toward the Son shall not see life; instead the wrath of God remains upon him.”
