Ch 16 Matthew

Matthew 16

16:1 And Pharisees and Sadducees approached him to test him, and they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
16:2 But he responded by saying to them: “When evening arrives, you say, ‘It will be calm, for the sky is red,'
16:3 and in the morning, ‘Today there will be a storm, for the sky is red and gloomy.’ So then, you know how to judge the appearance of the sky, but you are unable to know the signs of the times?
16:4 An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign. And a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And leaving them behind, he went away.
16:5 And when his disciples went across the sea, they forgot to bring bread.
16:6 I mai la oia ia ia, “Consider and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”
16:7 But they were thinking within themselves, i ka i ana, “It is because we have not brought bread.”
16:8 Alaila, o Iesu, e ike ana i keia, mai la: “Why do you consider within yourselves, O little in faith, that it is because you have no bread?
16:9 Do you not yet understand, nor remember, the five loaves among the five thousand men, and how many containers you took up?
16:10 Or the seven loaves among the four thousand men, and how many baskets you took up?
16:11 Why do you not understand that it was not because of bread that I said to you: Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees?"
16:12 Then they understood that he was not saying that they should beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.
16:13 Mai la o Iesu, hele akula i loko o māhele o Kaisareia Pilipi. A mea ana i ninau i kana poe haumana, i ka i ana, "Owai hana na kanaka e olelo aku i ke Keiki a ke kanaka, oia?"

16:15 Mai la o Iesu ia lakou, i mai la, "Akā, ka poe e oe e olelo aku i ka mea, owau?"
16:16 La o Simona Petero ia ma ka i ana, "ʻOʻoe nō ka Mesia, i ke Keiki a ke Akua ola. "
16:17 A ma muli o, Mai la o Iesu ia ia, i mai la: "Pomaikai oe, Simona ke keiki a Iona. No ka io a me ke koko i ole hoike mai keia ia oe, akā, koʻu Makua, i mea i loko o ka lani.
16:18 A au e olelo aku nei ia oe, ia oe e Petero, a maluna o keia pohaku e kukulu ana au i koʻu Ekalesia, me ka ae ole lanakila i ka puka o Hell e ku e ia mea.

16:20 A laila, aʻo akula ia i kana poe haumana i ka mea, e hai aku i kekahi i ka mea, o Iesu ka Mesia.
16:21 Mai ia manawa, Mai la o Iesu, hoomaka ae la e hoike aku i kana poe haumana i ka mea, ua pono no ia ia e hele i Ierusalema, a me koʻu hoomanawanui ana'ku ia nui, mai na lunakahiko, a me ka poe kakauolelo, a me nā luna o nā kāhuna,, a ia e make, a me ke ala hou i ke kolu o ka lā.
16:22 aku la o Petero, e lalau ana ia ia, hoomaka ae la e papa aku ia ia, i ka i ana, "ka Haku, i ka mea e loa mai oe; keia e aole e hiki mai ia oe. "
16:23 A me ka hoohuli ana mai i, Mai la o Iesu ia Petero i olelo: "E hele pela mahope oʻu, Satana; oe i ka keʻakeʻa nei no iaʻu. No ka oe i ka mea, e hana naʻauao e like me ka mea mea o ke Akua, akā, e like me ka mea i ana i na kanaka. "
16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Inā kekahi mea makemake e hele mai ma hope mai iaʻu, e hoole kela ia ia iho, and take up his cross, a hahai mai iaʻu.
16:25 For whoever would save his life, e lilo ia. But whoever will have lost his life for my sake, shall find it.
16:26 No pehea aha ka mea e pōmaikaʻi ai i ke kanaka, if he gains the whole world, yet truly suffers damage to his soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
16:27 For the Son of man will arrive in the glory of his Father, with his Angels. And then he will repay each one according to his works.
16:28 Amene au e olelo aku nei ia oe, there are some among those standing here, who shall not taste death, until they see the Son of man arriving in his reign.”
