58:7	Break your bread with the hungry, and lead the destitute and the homeless into your house. When you see someone naked, cover him, and do not despise your own flesh.
58:8	Then your light will break forth like the morning, and your health will improve quickly, and your justice will go before your face, and the glory of the Lord will gather you up.
58:9	Then you will call, and the Lord will heed; you will cry out, en hij zal het zeggen, "Hier ben ik,” if you take away the chains from your midst, and cease to point your finger and to speak what is not beneficial.
58:10	When you pour out your life for the hungry, and you satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light will rise up in darkness, and your darkness will be like the midday.

2:1	En dus, broers, when I came to you, announcing to you the testimony of Christ, I did not bring exalted words or lofty wisdom.
2:2	For I did not judge myself to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
2:3	And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and with much trembling.
2:4	And my words and preaching were not the persuasive words of human wisdom, but were a manifestation of the Spirit and of virtue,
2:5	so that your faith would not be based on the wisdom of men, but on the virtue of God.

5:13	Jij bent het zout van de aarde. Maar als zout zijn zoutheid verliest, waarmee zal het worden gezouten? Het heeft helemaal geen nut meer, behalve om verstoten en vertrapt te worden door mensen.
5:14	Jij bent het licht van de wereld. Een stad op een berg kan niet verborgen blijven.
5:15	En ze steken geen lamp aan en zetten die onder een mand, maar dan op een lampenstandaard, zodat het kan schijnen voor iedereen die in huis is.
5:16	Dus dan, laat uw licht schijnen in de ogen van de mensen, zodat zij uw goede werken mogen zien, en moge uw Vader verheerlijken, wie is er in de hemel.
