Lukeminen

The Book of Numbers 21: 4-9

21:4	Sitten he lähtivät Horin vuorelta, muuten, joka johtaa Punaisellemerelle, kiertää Edomin maan ympäri. Ja ihmiset alkoivat väsyä matkaansa ja vaikeuksiin.
21:5	Ja puhua Jumalaa ja Moosesta vastaan, he sanoivat: "Miksi johdatit meidät pois Egyptistä?, kuollakseen erämaassa? Leipä puuttuu; ei ole vesiä. Sielumme on nyt pahoinvoiva tästä erittäin kevyestä ruoasta."
21:6	Tästä syystä, Herra lähetti tuliset käärmeet kansan sekaan, joka haavoitti tai tappoi monia heistä.
21:7	Ja niin he menivät Mooseksen luo, ja he sanoivat: "Olemme tehneet syntiä, sillä me olemme puhuneet Herraa ja sinua vastaan. Rukoilla, jotta hän ottaisi meiltä pois nämä käärmeet." Ja Mooses rukoili kansan puolesta.
21:8	Ja Herra sanoi hänelle: "Tee pronssikäärme, ja aseta se merkiksi. Kuka tahansa, lyötyään, katsoo sitä, tulee elämään."
21:9	Siksi, Mooses teki pronssikäärmeen, ja hän asetti sen merkiksi. Kun ne, joita oli lyöty, katsoivat sitä, he paranivat.

Pyhä evankeliumi Johanneksen mukaan 8: 21-30

8:21	Siksi, Jesus again spoke to them: “I am going, and you shall seek me. And you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you are not able to go.”
8:22	And so the Jews said, “Is he going to kill himself, for he said: ‘Where I am going, you are not able to go?’”
8:23	Ja hän sanoi heille: “You are from below. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.
8:24	Siksi, I said to you, that you will die in your sins. For if you will not believe that I am, you will die in your sin.”
8:25	And so they said to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them: “The Beginning, who is also speaking to you.
8:26	I have much to say about you and to judge. But he who sent me is true. And what I have heard from him, this I speak within the world.”
8:27	And they did not realize that he was calling God his Father.
8:28	And so Jesus said to them: “When you will have lifted up the Son of man, then you shall realize that I am, and that I do nothing of myself, but just as the Father has taught me, so do I speak.
8:29	And he who sent me is with me, and he has not abandoned me alone. For I always do what is pleasing to him.”
8:30	As he was speaking these things, many believed in him.
