    First John 5: 5- 13

5:5Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God!
5:6This is the One who came by water and blood: Jesus Christ. Not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit is the One who testifies that the Christ is the Truth.
5:7For there are Three who give testimony in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit. And these Three are One.
5:8And there are three who give testimony on earth: the Spirit, and the water, and the blood. And these three are one.
5:9If we accept the testimony of men, then the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony of God, which is greater: that he has testified about his Son.
5:10Whoever believes in the Son of God, holds the testimony of God within himself. Whoever does not believe in the Son, makes him a liar, because he does not believe in the testimony which God has testified about his Son.
5:11And this is the testimony which God has given to us: Eternal Life. And this Life is in his Son.
5:12Whoever has the Son, has Life. Whoever does not have the Son, does not have Life.
5:13I am writing this to you, so that you may know that you have Eternal Life: you who believe in the name of the Son of God.

    Luke 5: 12- 16

5:12And it happened that, while he was in a certain city, behold, there was a man full of leprosy who, upon seeing Jesus and falling to his face, petitioned him, saying: “Lord, if you are willing, you are able to cleanse me.”
5:13And extending his hand, he touched him, saying: “I am willing. Be cleansed.” And at once, the leprosy departed from him.
5:14And he instructed him that he should tell no one, “But go, show yourself to the priest, and make the offering for your cleansing, just as Moses has commanded, as a testimony for them.”
5:15Yet word of him traveled around all the more. And great crowds came together, so that they might listen and be cured by him from their infirmities.
5:16And he withdrew into the desert and prayed.

    First John 4: 19- 5: 4

4:19Therefore, let us love God, for God first loved us.
4:20If anyone says that he loves God, but hates his brother, then he is a liar. For he who does not love his brother, whom he does see, in what way can he love God, whom he does not see?
4:21And this is the commandment that we have from God, that he who loves God must also love his brother.
5:1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God. And everyone who loves God, who provides that birth, also loves him who has been born of God.
5:2In this way, we know that we love those born of God: when we love God and do his commandments.
5:3For this is the love of God: that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not heavy.
5:4For all that is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world: our faith.

    Luke 4: 14- 22

4:14And Jesus returned, in the power of the Spirit, into Galilee. And his fame spread throughout the entire region.
4:15And he taught in their synagogues, and he was magnified by everyone.
4:16And he went to Nazareth, where he had been raised. And he entered into the synagogue, according to his custom, on the Sabbath day. And he rose up to read.
4:17And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. And as he unrolled the book, he found the place where it was written:
4:18“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because of this, he has anointed me. He has sent me to evangelize the poor, to heal the contrite of heart,
4:19to preach forgiveness to captives and sight to the blind, to release the broken into forgiveness, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of retribution.”
4:20And when he had rolled up the book, he returned it to the minister, and he sat down. And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him.
4:21Then he began to say to them, “On this day, this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
4:22And everyone gave testimony to him. And they wondered at the words of grace that proceeded from his mouth. And they said, “Is this not the son of Joseph?”

    First John 4: 11- 18

4:11Most beloved, if God has so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
4:12No one has ever seen God. But if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is perfected in us.
4:13In this way, we know that we abide in him, and he in us: because he has given to us from his Spirit.
4:14And we have seen, and we testify, that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
4:15Whoever has confessed that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
4:16And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love. And he who abides in love, abides in God, and God in him.
4:17In this way, the love of God is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment. For as he is, so also are we, in this world.
4:18Fear is not in love. Instead, perfect love casts out fear, for fear pertains to punishment. And whoever fears is not perfected in love.

    Mark 6: 45- 52

6:45And without delay he urged his disciples to climb into the boat, so that they might precede him across the sea to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the people.
6:46And when he had dismissed them, he went to the mountain to pray.
6:47And when it was late, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he was alone on the land.
6:48And seeing them struggling to row, (for the wind was against them,) and about the fourth watch of the night, he came to them, walking upon the sea. And he intended to pass by them.
6:49But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they thought it was an apparition, and they cried out.
6:50For they all saw him, and they were very disturbed. And immediately he spoke with them, and he said to them: “Be strengthened in faith. It is I. Do not be afraid.”
6:51And he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they became even more astonished within themselves.
6:52For they did not understand about the bread. For their heart had been blinded.

    First John 4: 7- 10

4:7Most beloved, let us love one another. For love is of God. And everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
4:8Whoever does not love, does not know God. For God is love.
4:9The love of God was made apparent to us in this way: that God sent his only-begotten Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
4:10In this is love: not as if we had loved God, but that he first loved us, and so he sent his Son as a propitiation for our sins

    Mark 6: 34- 44

6:34And Jesus, going out, saw a great multitude. And he took pity on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.
6:35And when many hours had now passed, his disciples drew near to him, saying: “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late.
6:36Send them away, so that by going out to nearby villages and towns, they might buy provisions for themselves to eat.”
6:37And responding, he said to them, “Give them something to eat yourselves.” And they said to him, “Let us go out and buy bread for two hundred denarii, and then we will give them something to eat.”
6:38And he said to them: “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they had found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.”
6:39And he instructed them to make them all sit down in groups on the green grass.
6:40And they sat down in divisions by hundreds and by fifties.
6:41And having received the five loaves and the two fish, gazing up to heaven, he blessed and broke the bread, and he gave it to his disciples to set before them. And the two fish he divided among them all.
6:42And they all ate and were satisfied.
6:43And they brought together the remainder: twelve baskets full of fragments and of fish.
6:44Now those who ate were five thousand men.

    First John 3:22- 4:6

3:22and whatever we shall request of him, we shall receive from him. For we keep his commandments, and we do the things that are pleasing in his sight.
3:23And this is his commandment: that we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he has commanded us.
3:24And those who keep his commandments abide in him, and he in them. And we know that he abides in us by this: by the Spirit, whom he has given to us.
4:1Most beloved, do not be willing to believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are of God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
    4:2The Spirit of God may be known in this way. Every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has arrived in the flesh is of God;
4:3and every spirit who contradicts Jesus is not of God. And this one is the Antichrist, the one that you have heard is coming, and even now he is in the world.
4:4Little sons, you are of God, and so you have overcome him. For he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
4:5They are of the world. Therefore, they speak about the world, and the world listens to them.
4:6We are of God. Whoever knows God, listens to us. Whoever is not of God, does not listen to us. In this way, we know the Spirit of truth from the spirit of error.

    Matthew 4: 12- 17, 23- 25

4:12And when Jesus had heard that John had been handed over, he withdrew into Galilee.
4:13And leaving behind the city of Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, near the sea, at the borders of Zebulun and of Naphtali,
4:14in order to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
4:15“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way of the sea across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles:
4:16A people who were sitting in darkness have seen a great light. And unto those sitting in the region of the shadow of death, a light has risen.”
4:17From that time, Jesus began to preach, and to say: “Repent. For the kingdom of heaven has drawn near.”
4:23And Jesus traveled throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every infirmity among the people.
4:24And reports of him went out to all of Syria, and they brought to him all those who had maladies, those who were in the grasp of various sicknesses and torments, and those who were in the hold of demons, and the mentally ill, and paralytics. And he cured them.
4:25And a great crowd followed him from Galilee, and from the Ten Cities, and from Jerusalem, and from Judea, and from across the Jordan.

    Isaiah 60: 1- 6

60:1Rise up to be illuminated, O Jerusalem! For your light has arrived, and the glory of the Lord has risen over you.
60:2For behold, darkness will cover the earth, and thick darkness will cover the peoples. Then the Lord will rise above you, and his glory will be seen in you.
60:3And the nations will walk in your light, and the kings will walk by the splendor of your rising.
60:4Lift up your eyes all around and see! All these have been gathered together; they have arrived before you. Your sons will arrive from far away, and your daughters will rise up from your side.
60:5Then you will see, and you will overflow, and your heart will be amazed and expanded. When the multitude of the sea will have been converted to you, the strength of the nations will approach you.
60:6A multitude of camels will inundate you: the dromedaries from Midian and Ephah. All those from Sheba will arrive, carrying gold and frankincense, and announcing praise to the Lord.

    Ephesians 3: 2- 3, 5- 6

3:2Now certainly, you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God, which has been given to me among you:
3:3that, by means of revelation, the mystery was made known to me, just as I have written above in a few words.
3:4Yet, by reading this closely, you might be able to understand my prudence in the mystery of Christ.
3:5In other generations, this was unknown to the sons of men, even as it has now been revealed to his holy Apostles and Prophets in the Spirit,
3:6so that the Gentiles would be co-heirs, and of the same body, and partners together, by his promise in Christ Jesus, through the Gospel.

    Matthew 2: 1- 12

2:1And so, when Jesus had been born in Bethlehem of Judah, in the days of king Herod, behold, Magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem,
2:2saying: “Where is he who was born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and we have come to adore him.”
2:3Now king Herod, hearing this, was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.
2:4And gathering together all the leaders of the priests, and the scribes of the people, he consulted with them as to where the Christ would be born.
2:5And they said to him: “In Bethlehem of Judea. For so it has been written by the prophet:
2:6‘And you, Bethlehem, the land of Judah, are by no means least among the leaders of Judah. For from you shall go forth the ruler who shall guide my people Israel.’ ”
2:7Then Herod, quietly calling the Magi, diligently learned from them the time when the star appeared to them.
2:8And sending them into Bethlehem, he said: “Go and diligently ask questions about the boy. And when you have found him, report back to me, so that I, too, may come and adore him.”
2:9And when they had heard the king, they went away. And behold, the star that they had seen in the east went before them, even until, arriving, it stood still above the place where the child was.
2:10Then, seeing the star, they were gladdened by a very great joy.
2:11And entering the home, they found the boy with his mother Mary. And so, falling prostrate, they adored him. And opening their treasures, they offered him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
2:12And having received a response in sleep that they should not return to Herod, they went back by another way to their own region.

    First John 3: 7- 10

3:7Little sons, let no one deceive you. Whoever does justice is just, even as he also is just.
3:8Whoever commits sin is of the devil. For the devil sins from the beginning. For this reason, the Son of God appeared, so that he might eradicate the works of the devil.
3:9All those who have been born of God do not commit sin. For the offspring of God abides in them, and he is not able to sin, because he was born of God.
3:10In this way, the sons of God are made manifest, and also the sons of the devil. Everyone who is not just, is not of God, as also anyone who does not love his brother.

    John 1: 35- 42

1:35The next day again, John was standing with two of his disciples.
1:36And catching sight of Jesus walking, he said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.”
1:37And two disciples were listening to him speaking. And they followed Jesus.
1:38Then Jesus, turning around and seeing them following him, said to them, “What are you seeking?” And they said to him, “Rabbi (which means in translation, Teacher), where do you live?”
1:39He said to them, “Come and see.” They went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. Now it was about the tenth hour.
1:40And Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who had heard about him from John and had followed him.
1:41First, he found his brother Simon, and he said to him, “We have found the Messiah,” (which is translated as the Christ).
1:42And he led him to Jesus. And Jesus, gazing at him, said: “You are Simon, son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas,” (which is translated as Peter).

    First John 2: 22- 28

2:22Who is a liar, other than he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This one is the Antichrist, who denies the Father and the Son.
2:23No one who denies the Son also has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son, also has the Father.
2:24As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If what you have heard from the beginning remains in you, then you, too, shall abide in the Son and in the Father.
2:25And this is the Promise, which he himself has promised to us: Eternal Life.
2:26I have written these things to you, because of those who would seduce you.
2:27But as for you, let the Anointing that you have received from him abide in you. And so, you have no need of anyone to teach you. For his Anointing teaches you about everything, and it is the truth, and it is not a lie. And just as his Anointing has taught you, abide in him.
2:28And now, little sons, abide in him, so that when he appears, we may have faith, and we may not be confounded by him at his advent.

    John 1: 19- 28

1:19And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to him, so that they might ask him, “Who are you?”
1:20And he confessed it and did not deny it; and what he confessed was: “I am not the Christ.”
1:21And they questioned him: “Then what are you? Are you Elijah?” And he said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.”
1:22Therefore, they said to him: “Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?”
1:23He said, “I am a voice crying out in the desert, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ just as the prophet Isaiah said.”
1:24And some of those who had been sent were from among the Pharisees.
1:25And they questioned him and said to him, “Then why do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, and not Elijah, and not the Prophet?”
1:26John answered them by saying: “I baptize with water. But in your midst stands one, whom you do not know.
1:27The same is he who is to come after me, who has been placed ahead of me, the laces of whose shoes I am not worthy to loosen.”
1:28These things happened in Bethania, across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God

    Numbers 6: 22- 27

6:22And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
6:23“Say to Aaron and his sons: Thus shall you bless the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them:
6:24‘May the Lord bless you and keep you.
6:25May the Lord reveal his face to you and take pity on you.
6:26May the Lord turn his countenance toward you and grant peace to you.’
6:27And they shall invoke my name over the sons of Israel, and I will bless them.”

    Galatians 4: 4- 7

4:4But when the fullness of time arrived, God sent his Son, formed from a woman, formed under the law,
4:5so that he might redeem those who were under the law, in order that we might receive the adoption of sons.
4:6Therefore, because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying out: “Abba, Father.”
4:7And so now he is not a servant, but a son. But if he is a son, then he is also an heir, through God.

    Luke 2: 16- 21

2:16And they went quickly. And they found Mary and Joseph; and the infant was lying in a manger.
2:17Then, upon seeing this, they understood the word that had been spoken to them about this boy.
2:18And all who heard it were amazed by this, and by those things which were told to them by the shepherds.
2:19But Mary kept all these words, pondering them in her heart.
2:20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, just as it was told to them.
2:21And after eight days were ended, so that the boy would be circumcised, his name was called JESUS, just as he was called by the Angel before he was conceived in the womb.
