Reading

The First Book of Kings 18: 41-46

18:41	And Elijah said to Ahab “Ascend; eat and drink. For there is the sound of an abundance of rain.”
18:42	Ahab ascended, so that he might eat and drink. But Elijah ascended to the top of Carmel, and bending down to the ground, he placed his face between his knees.
18:43	And he said to his servant, “Ascend, and gaze out toward the sea.” And when he had ascended, and had contemplated, he said, “There is nothing.” And again, he said to him, “Return seven times.”
18:44	And at the seventh time, lūk, a little cloud ascended from the sea like the footstep of a man. And he said: “Ascend, and say to Ahab, ‘Yoke your chariot, and descend; otherwise, the rain may prevent you.’ ”
18:45	And as he was turning himself this way and that, lūk, the heavens were darkened, and there were clouds and wind, and a great rainstorm occurred. And so Ahab, going up, went away to Jezreel.
18:46	And the hand of the Lord was upon Elijah. And cinching his waist, he ran before Ahab, until he arrived at Jezreel.

The Holy Gospel According to Matthew 5: 20-26

5:20	Jo es tev saku, ka, ja jūsu taisnība nav augstāka par rakstu mācītājiem un farizejiem, jūs neieiesit debesu valstībā.
5:21	Jūs esat dzirdējuši, ka tā teikts seniem cilvēkiem: ‘Tev nebūs slepkavot; kas gribēs noslepkavot, tas būs sodāms.
5:22	Bet es tev saku, ka ikviens, kas dusmojas uz savu brāli, ir sodāms. Bet kurš būs saucis savu brāli, 'Idiots,ir atbildīgs padomes priekšā. Tad, kurš būs viņu saucis, ‘Nevērtīgs,' būs atbildīgs elles ugunīm.
5:23	Tāpēc, ja tu piedāvā savu dāvanu pie altāra, un tur tu atceries, ka tavam brālim ir kaut kas pret tevi,
5:24	atstāj tur savu dāvanu, pirms altāra, un ej vispirms, lai samierinātos ar savu brāli, un tad tu vari pieiet un piedāvāt savu dāvanu.
5:25	Ātri samierinieties ar savu pretinieku, kamēr jūs joprojām esat ceļā ar viņu, lai varbūt pretinieks nenodos tevi tiesneša rokās, un tiesnesis var jūs nodot virsniekam, un tu tiksi iemests cietumā.
5:26	Āmen es tev saku, ka tu no turienes neesi prom, līdz esat atmaksājis pēdējo ceturksni.
