^{31 ‘What comparison, bese, can I find for the people of this generation? What are they like?}

^{32 They are like children shouting to one another while they sit in the market place: We played the pipes for you, and you wouldn’t dance; we sang dirges, and you wouldn’t cry.}

^{33 ‘For John the Baptist has come, engasidli isinkwa, not drinking wine, futhi uthi, “He is possessed.”}

^{34 The Son of man has come, ukudla nokuphuza, futhi uthi, “Bheka, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.”}

^{35 Yet wisdom is justified by all her children.’}
