Lezing

The Acts of the Apostles 5: 34-42

5:34	Maar iemand in de raad, een farizeeër genaamd Gamaliël, een leraar van de wet geëerd door alle mensen, stond op en beval de mannen even buiten te zetten.
5:35	En hij zei tegen hen: 'Mannen van Israël, je moet voorzichtig zijn met je intenties over deze mannen.
5:36	Voor vóór deze dagen, Theudas stapte naar voren, beweren dat hij iemand is, en een aantal mannen, ongeveer vierhonderd, sloot zich bij hem aan. Maar hij werd vermoord, en allen die in hem geloofden werden verstrooid, en ze werden teruggebracht tot niets.
5:37	Na deze, Judas de Galileeër stapte naar voren, in de dagen van inschrijving, en hij keerde de mensen naar zich toe. Maar hij kwam ook om, en allemaal, zovelen als er zich bij hem hadden aangesloten, waren verspreid.
5:38	En nu dus, ik zeg je, trek je terug van deze mannen en laat ze met rust. Want als deze raad of dit werk van mensen is, het zal worden verbroken.
5:39	Toch echt, als het van God is, je zult het niet kunnen breken, en misschien blijkt dat u tegen God hebt gestreden.” En ze waren het met hem eens.
5:40	En het roepen van de apostelen, ze hebben verslagen, ze waarschuwden hen om helemaal niet in de naam van Jezus te spreken. En ze hebben ze ontslagen.
5:41	En inderdaad, ze gingen uit van de aanwezigheid van de raad, verheugd dat ze waardig werden geacht om beledigd te worden namens de naam van Jezus.
5:42	En elke dag, in de tempel en tussen de huizen, zij hielden niet op Christus Jezus te onderwijzen en te evangeliseren.

The Holy Gospel According to John 6: 1-15

6:1	Na deze dingen, Jesus traveled across the sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias.
6:2	And a great multitude was following him, for they saw the signs that he was accomplishing toward those who were infirm.
6:3	Daarom, Jesus went onto a mountain, and he sat down there with his disciples.
6:4	Now the Passover, the feast day of the Jews, was near.
6:5	En dus, when Jesus had lifted up his eyes and had seen that a very great multitude came to him, he said to Philip, “From where should we buy bread, so that these may eat?”
6:6	But he said this to test him. For he himself knew what he would do.
6:7	Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii of bread would not be sufficient for each of them to receive even a little.”
6:8	One of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, zei tegen hem:
6:9	“There is a certain boy here, who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are these among so many?”
6:10	Then Jesus said, “Have the men sit down to eat.” Now, there was much grass in that place. And so the men, in number about five thousand, sat down to eat.
6:11	Daarom, Jesus took the bread, and when he had given thanks, he distributed it to those who were sitting down to eat; similarly also, from the fish, as much as they wanted.
6:12	Dan, when they were filled, zei hij tegen zijn discipelen, “Gather the fragments that are left over, lest they be lost.”
6:13	And so they gathered, and they filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which were left over from those who had eaten.
6:14	Daarom, those men, when they had seen that Jesus had accomplished a sign, ze zeiden, "Werkelijk, this one is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
6:15	En dus, when he realized that they were going to come and take him away and make him king, Jesus fled back to the mountain, by himself alone.
