Exodus 22: 20-26

22:20 Whoever immolates to gods, other than to the Lord, shall be killed. 22:21 You shall not harass the newcomer, nor shall you afflict him. For you yourselves were once newcomers in the land of Egypt.

22:22 You shall not harm a widow or an orphan.

22:23 If you hurt them, they will cry out to me, and I will hear their cry.

22:24 And my fury will be enraged, and I will strike you down with the sword. And your wives will become widows, and your sons will become orphans.

22:25 If you lend money to the poor of my people who live among you, you shall not coerce them like a collector, nor oppress them with usury.

22:26 If you take a garment from your neighbor as a pledge, you shall return it to him again before the setting of the sun

Thessalonicenzen 1: 5-10

1:5 Want ons evangelie is niet alleen in woorden onder u geweest, maar ook in deugd, en in de Heilige Geest, en met een grote volheid, op dezelfde manier als u weet, hebben wij onder u gehandeld ter wille van u.

1:6 En dus, jullie werden navolgers van ons en van de Heer, het Woord aanvaarden te midden van grote verdrukking, maar met de vreugde van de Heilige Geest.

1:7 Zo ben je een patroon geworden voor allen die in Macedonië en in Achaje geloven.

1:8 Voor van jou, het Woord van de Heer werd verspreid, niet alleen in Macedonië en in Achaje, maar ook op elke plek. Jouw geloof, die gericht is op God, is zo ver gevorderd dat we u nergens meer over hoeven te spreken.

1:9 Want anderen rapporteren onder ons over het soort acceptatie dat we onder jullie hadden, en hoe je van afgoden tot God bent bekeerd, tot dienst van de levende en waarachtige God,

1:10 en naar de verwachting van zijn Zoon uit de hemel (die hij uit de dood heeft opgewekt), Jezus, die ons heeft gered van de naderende toorn.

Mattheüs 22: 33-40

22:33 And when the crowds heard this, they wondered at his doctrine. 22:34 But the Pharisees, hearing that he had caused the Sadducees to be silent, came together as one.

22:35 En een van hen, a doctor of the law, questioned him, to test him:

22:36 "Docent, which is the great commandment in the law?”

22:37 zei Jezus tegen hem: “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God from all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

22:38 This is the greatest and first commandment.

22:39 But the second is similar to it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’

22:40 On these two commandments the entire law depends, and also the prophets.”
