Brottför 1: 8-14, 22

1:8 Meanwhile, there arose a new king over Egypt, who was ignorant of Joseph.

1:9 And he said to his people: „Sjá, the people of the sons of Israel are many, and they are stronger than we are.

1:10 Come, let us wisely oppress them, lest they multiply; and if any war should advance against us, they may be added to our enemies, and having fought against us, they might depart from the land.”

1:11 And so he set over them masters of the works, in order to afflict them with burdens. And they built for Pharaoh the cities of the tabernacles: Pithom and Raamses.

1:12 And the more they oppressed them, so much more did they multiply and increase.

1:13 And the Egyptians hated the sons of Israel, and they afflicted them and mocked them.

1:14 And they led their life directly into bitterness, with hard work in clay and brick, and with all kinds of servitude, so that they were being overwhelmed with the works of the land.

1:22 Þess vegna, Pharaoh instructed all his people, að segja: “Whatever will be born of the male sex, cast it into the river; whatever will be born of the female sex, retain it.”

The Holy Gospel According to Matthew 10: 34-11: 1

10:34	Ekki halda að ég sé kominn til að senda frið á jörðu. ég kom, ekki að senda frið, en sverðið.
10:35	Því að ég kom til að skipta manni á móti föður hans, og dóttir gegn móður sinni, og tengdadóttir á móti tengdamóður sinni.
10:36	Og óvinir manns munu vera heimilismenn hans.
10:37	Sá sem elskar föður eða móður meira en mig er mín ekki verður. Og hver sem elskar son eða dóttur umfram mig er mín ekki verður.
10:38	Og hver sem ekki tekur kross sinn, og fylgi mér er mér ekki verðugt.
10:39	Hver sem finnur líf sitt, mun missa það. Og hver sem mun hafa misst líf sitt mín vegna, skal finna það.
10:40	Hver sem tekur á móti þér, tekur á móti mér. Og hver sem tekur á móti mér, tekur á móti þeim sem sendi mig.
10:41	Hver sem tekur á móti spámanni, í nafni spámanns, skal hljóta laun spámanns. Og hver sem tekur við réttlátum í nafni réttlátra, mun fá laun hins réttláta.
10:42	Og hver sem gefur, jafnvel til einnar minnstu þessara, bolli af köldu vatni til að drekka, eingöngu í nafni lærisveins: Amen segi ég þér, hann skal ekki missa laun sín."

11:1	Og það gerðist, when Jesus had completed instructing his twelve disciples, he went away from there in order to teach and to preach in their cities.
