Lectura

Isaïes 49: 1-6

49:1	Presta atenció, vosaltres illes, i escolta atentament, vosaltres pobles llunyans. El Senyor m'ha cridat des del ventre; del ventre de la meva mare, ha tingut en compte el meu nom.
49:2	I ha designat la meva boca com una espasa esmolada. A l'ombra de la seva mà, m'ha protegit. I m'ha nomenat fletxa electa. En el seu carballo, m'ha amagat.
49:3	I m'ha dit: "Tu ets el meu servent, Israel. Perquè en tu, em gloriaré".
49:4	I vaig dir: "He treballat cap al buit. He consumit les meves forces sense propòsit i en va. Per tant, el meu judici és amb el Senyor, i la meva obra és amb el meu Déu”.
49:5	I ara, diu el Senyor, que em va formar des del ventre com el seu servent, perquè jo torni Jacob a ell, perquè Israel no es reunirà, però he estat glorificat als ulls del Senyor i el meu Déu s'ha convertit en la meva força,
49:6	i així ho ha dit: “És poca cosa que siguis el meu servent per aixecar les tribus de Jacob, i així convertir les escombraries d'Israel. Heus aquí, T'he ofert com a llum per als gentils, perquè tu siguis la meva salvació, fins i tot a les regions més allunyades de la terra”.

Segona Lectura

The Acts of Apostles 13: 22-26

13:22	I havent-lo tret, va aixecar per ells el rei David. I donant testimoni d'ell, Ell va dir, "He trobat David, el fill de Jessè, ser un home segons el meu propi cor, qui aconseguirà tot el que jo vull.’
13:23	De la seva descendència, segons la Promesa, Déu ha portat Jesús el Salvador a Israel.
13:24	Joan predicava, davant la cara del seu adveniment, un baptisme de penediment a tot el poble d'Israel.
13:25	Aleshores, quan Joan va acabar el seu curs, deia ell: 'No sóc el que tu consideres que sóc. Perquè vet aquí, un arriba darrere meu, les sabates dels peus dels quals no sóc digne de deixar anar.
13:26	Germans nobles, fills de la raça d'Abraham, i els d'entre vosaltres que tenen por de Déu, és a vosaltres la Paraula d'aquesta salvació ha estat enviada.

The Holy Gospel According to Luke 1: 57-66, 80

1:57Now the time for Elizabeth to give birth arrived, and she brought forth a son.

1:58And her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy with her, and so they congratulated her.

1:59I va passar això, on the eighth day, they arrived to circumcise the boy, and they called him by his father’s name, Zacaries.

1:60I com a resposta, his mother said: “Not so. En canvi, he shall be called John.”

1:61And they said to her, “But there is no one among your relatives who is called by that name.”

1:62Then they made signs to his father, as to what he wanted him to be called.

1:63And requesting a writing tablet, he wrote, dient: “His name is John.” And they all wondered.

1:64Aleshores, at once, his mouth was opened, and his tongue loosened, and he spoke, blessing God.

1:65And fear fell upon all of their neighbors. And all these words were made known throughout all the hill country of Judea.

1:66And all those who heard it stored it up in their heart, dient: “What do you think this boy will be?” And indeed, the hand of the Lord was with him.

1:80And the child grew, and he was strengthened in spirit. And he was in the wilderness, until the day of his manifestation to Israel.
