Nepo kutambura pamwe naIshe Jesu kune tariro–kunyangwe zvichiri kurwadza–kunze kwake zvinovava uye hazvina maturo.

Muzviitiko izvozvo, hapana kukosha mukutambura, uye nyika inotiza kubva pairi–vachitsvaka kuzvinzvenga pazvose–kana kuti anopomera munhu wacho nhamo yake. The Bible, ehe saizvozvo, completely refutes this perspective any number of times, including the Sermon of the Mount in Mateu 5, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they shall be satisfied,” uye Ruka 6:20, e.g., “Blessed are you poor …,” and “Woe to you that are rich” (Ruka 6:24; cf. Mateu 6:19-21; the Tsamba yaJames 2:5).

Job, whom the Bible describes as “a blameless and upright man” (Job 2:3), suffered illness, the death of loved ones, and the loss of his possessions.

Mhandara Maria, who was sinless (Ruka 1:28), suffered rejection, homelessness, persecution, and the loss of Her Son—“a sword shall pierce your own soul also,” Simeon had revealed to her (Ruka 2:35).

John the Baptist, the Precursor of Jesus, “wore a garment of camel’s hair” and ate “locusts and wild honey” (Mateu 3:4). Timothy suffered from chronic stomach ailments (ona yaPauro Tsamba Yokutanga kuna Timotio 5:23); and Paul had to leave his co-worker, Trophimus, behind due to illness (see Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy 4:20).

Near the end of his life, the same Peter, who had once been rebuked by Jesus for wanting Him to avoid suffering, declared to the faithful:

“In this [heavenly inheritance] you rejoice, though now for a little while you may have to suffer various trials, so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold which though perishable is tested by fire, may redound to praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (Peter’s Tsamba Yokutanga 1:6-7)

Saka, Is It Worth It?

To answer that question, we can turn to Saint Paul in his Letter to the Romans 8:18: “I consider that the sufferings of this present time re not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

In that regard, we must never lose sight of the prize: that one day, nenyasha dzaMwari, each of us here will see the Lord Jesus Christ in His Kingdom; behold His luminous face; hear His angelic voice; and kiss His sacred hands and feet, wounded for our sake. Till that day, we can proclaim like Saint Francis of Assisi in The Way of the Cross, “We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You, because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world. Ameni.
