First Book of Kings 8: 22-23, 27-30

8:22	Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord, in the sight of the assembly of Israel, and he extended his hands toward heaven.
8:23	U qal: “Lord God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above, nor on the earth below. You preserve covenant and mercy with your servants, who walk before you with all their heart.
8:26	U issa, O Lord God of Israel, establish your words, which you spoke to your servant David, my father.
8:27	Is it, imbagħad, to be understood that truly God would dwell upon the earth? For if heaven, and the heavens of heavens, are not able to contain you, how much less this house, which I have built?
8:28	Yet look with favor upon the prayer of your servant and upon his petitions, O Mulej, my God. Listen to the hymn and the prayer, which your servant prays before you this day,
8:29	so that your eyes may be open over this house, lejl u nhar, over the house about which you said, ‘My name shall be there,’ so that you may heed the prayer that your servant is praying in this place to you.
8:30	So may you heed the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel, whatever they will pray for in this place, and so may you heed them in your dwelling place in heaven. And when you heed, you will be gracious.

Mark 7: 1-13

7:1	U l-Fariżej u xi wħud mill-kittieba, wasal minn Ġerusalemm, miġbura flimkien quddiemu.
7:2	U meta kienu raw lil xi wħud mid-dixxipli tiegħu jieklu ħobż b’idejn komuni, jiġifieri, b'idejn mhux maħsula, disprezzawhom.
7:3	Għall-Fariżej, u l-Lhud kollha, tiekolx mingħajr ma taħsel idejhom ripetutament, iżżomm mat-tradizzjoni tal-anzjani.
7:4	U meta tirritorna mis-suq, sakemm ma jaħslu, ma jieklux. U hemm ħafna affarijiet oħra li ġew mogħtija lilhom biex josservaw: il-ħasil tat-tazzi, u pitchers, u kontenituri tal-bronż, u sodod.
7:5	U għalhekk il-Fariżej u l-kittieba staqsewh: “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, imma jieklu ħobż b’idejn komuni?”
7:6	Iżda bi tweġiba, qalilhom: “Tant sew ipprofetizza Isaija dwarkom ipokriti, hekk kif inkiteb: ‘Dan in-nies jonorani b’xofftejhom, imma qalbhom hija 'l bogħod minni.
7:7	U għalxejn jadurawni, jgħallem id-duttrini u l-preċetti tal-bnedmin.’
7:8	Għall-abbandun tal-kmandament ta 'Alla, inti żżomm mat-tradizzjoni tal-irġiel, għall-ħasil tal-pitchers u tazzi. U tagħmel ħafna affarijiet oħra simili għal dawn.”
7:9	U qalilhom: “Int effettivament tħassar il-preċett t’Alla, sabiex tosserva t-tradizzjoni tiegħek.
7:10	Għal Mosè qal: ‘Onora lil missierek u lil ommok,’ u, ‘Min se jkun misħut missier jew omm, ħallih imut mewt.’
7:11	Imma int tgħid, ‘Jekk raġel ikun qal lil missieru jew lil ommu: Vittma, (li huwa rigal) dak kollu li hu minni jkun għall-benefiċċju tiegħek,’
7:12	imbagħad inti ma ħelisha biex jagħmel xejn għal missieru jew ommu,
7:13	tħassar il-kelma ta’ Alla permezz tat-tradizzjoni tiegħek, li tajthom. U tagħmel ħafna affarijiet oħra simili b’dan il-mod.”
