Luc 2

2:1	And it happened in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, so that the whole world would be enrolled.
2:2	This was the first enrollment; it was made by the ruler of Syria, Quirinius.
2:3	And all went to be declared, each one to his own city.
2:4	Then Joseph also ascended from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,
2:5	in order to be declared, with Mary his espoused wife, who was with child.
2:6	Puis il est arrivé que, while they were there, the days were completed, so that she would give birth.
2:7	And she brought forth her firstborn son. And she wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them at the inn.
2:8	And there were shepherds in the same region, being vigilant and keeping watch in the night over their flock.
2:9	Et voici, an Angel of the Lord stood near them, and the brightness of God shone around them, and they were struck with a great fear.
2:10	Et l'Ange leur dit: "N'ayez pas peur. Pour, voir, I proclaim to you a great joy, which will be for all the people.
2:11	For today a Saviour has been born for you in the city of David: he is Christ the Lord.
2:12	And this will be a sign for you: you will find the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”
2:13	And suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the celestial army, praising God and saying,
2:14	“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men of good will.”
2:15	Et il est arrivé que, when the Angels had departed from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us cross over to Bethlehem and see this word, which has happened, which the Lord has revealed to us.”
2:16	Et ils sont allés vite. Et ils trouvèrent Marie et Joseph; et l'enfant était couché dans une mangeoire.
2:17	Alors, en voyant ça, ils ont compris la parole qui leur avait été dite à propos de ce garçon.
2:18	Et tous ceux qui l'ont entendu ont été étonnés par ce, et par les choses qui leur ont été dites par les bergers.
2:19	Mais Marie a gardé tous ces mots, les méditant dans son cœur.
2:20	Et les bergers sont revenus, glorifiant et louant Dieu pour tout ce qu'ils avaient entendu et vu, comme il leur a été dit.
2:21	Et après la fin de huit jours, pour que le garçon soit circoncis, son nom s'appelait JÉSUS, tout comme il a été appelé par l'ange avant d'être conçu dans le sein.
2:22	Et après que les jours de sa purification furent accomplis, selon la loi de Moïse, ils l'ont amené à Jérusalem, pour le présenter au Seigneur,
2:23	comme il est écrit dans la loi du Seigneur, « Pour chaque mâle qui ouvre la matrice sera appelé saint pour le Seigneur,”
2:24	et pour offrir un sacrifice, selon ce qui est dit dans la loi du Seigneur, "une paire de tourterelles ou deux jeunes pigeons."
2:25	Et voici, il y avait un homme à Jérusalem, dont le nom était Siméon, et cet homme était juste et craignait Dieu, attendant la consolation d'Israël. Et le Saint-Esprit était avec lui.
2:26	Et il avait reçu une réponse du Saint-Esprit: qu'il ne verrait pas sa propre mort avant d'avoir vu le Christ du Seigneur.
2:27	Et il alla avec l'Esprit au temple. Et quand l'enfant Jésus fut amené par ses parents, afin d'agir en son nom selon la coutume de la loi,
2:28	il l'a aussi pris, dans ses bras, et il bénit Dieu et dit:
2:29	« Maintenant tu peux renvoyer ton serviteur en paix, ô Seigneur, selon ta parole.
2:30	Car mes yeux ont vu ton salut,
2:31	que tu as préparé devant la face de tous les peuples:
2:32	la lumière de la révélation pour les nations et la gloire de ton peuple Israël.
2:33	Et son père et sa mère s'interrogeaient sur ces choses, dont on parlait de lui.
2:34	Et Siméon les bénit, et il dit à sa mère Marie: "Voir, celui-ci a été établi pour la ruine et pour la résurrection de plusieurs en Israël, et comme un signe qui sera contredit.
2:35	Et une épée traversera votre propre âme, afin que les pensées de beaucoup de cœurs soient révélées.
2:36	Et il y avait une prophétesse, Anne, une fille de Phanuel, de la tribu d'Aser. Elle était très avancée en années, et elle avait vécu sept ans avec son mari depuis sa virginité.
2:37	Et puis elle était veuve, jusqu'à sa quatre-vingt-quatrième année. Et sans sortir du temple, elle était une servante du jeûne et de la prière, nuit et jour.
2:38	Et entrant à la même heure, elle a confessé au Seigneur. Et elle parla de lui à tous ceux qui attendaient la rédemption d'Israël.
2:39	Et après avoir accompli toutes choses selon la loi du Seigneur, ils retournèrent en Galilée, à leur ville, Nazareth.
2:40	Maintenant l'enfant a grandi, et il fut fortifié par la plénitude de la sagesse. Et la grâce de Dieu était en lui.
2:41	And his parents went every year to Jerusalem, at the time of the solemnity of Passover.
2:42	And when he had become twelve years old, they ascended to Jerusalem, according to the custom of the feast day.
2:43	And having completed the days, when they returned, the boy Jesus remained in Jerusalem. And his parents did not realize this.
2:44	Mais, supposing that he was in the company, they went a day’s journey, seeking him among their relatives and acquaintances.
2:45	And not finding him, ils sont retournés à Jérusalem, seeking him.
2:46	Et il est arrivé que, après trois jours, they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, listening to them and questioning them.
2:47	But all who listened to him were astonished over his prudence and his responses.
2:48	Et en le voyant, ils se sont demandés. And his mother said to him: "Fils, why have you acted this way toward us? Voir, your father and I were seeking you in sorrow.”
2:49	Et il leur dit: “How is it that you were seeking me? For did you not know that it is necessary for me to be in these things which are of my Father?”
2:50	And they did not understand the word that he spoke to them.
2:51	And he descended with them and went to Nazareth. And he was subordinate to them. And his mother kept all these words in her heart.
2:52	And Jesus advanced in wisdom, and in age, and in grace, with God and men.
