James 5: 9-12

5:9 Broers, do not complain against one another, sodat julle nie geoordeel word nie. Kyk, the judge stands before the door.

5:10 My broers, consider the Prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of departing from evil, of labor, and of patience.

5:11 Consider that we beatify those who have endured. You have heard of the patient suffering of Job. And you have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is merciful and compassionate.

5:12 But before all things, my broers, do not choose to swear, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor in any other oath. But let your word ‘Yes’ be yes, and your word ‘No’ be no, so that you may not fall under judgment.

Merk 10: 1-12

10:1 En opstaan, hy het daarvandaan na die gebied van Judéa oorkant die Jordaan gegaan. En weer, die skare het voor hom saamgekom. En net soos hy gewoond was om te doen, weer het hy hulle geleer.

10:2 En nader, het die Fariseërs hom ondervra, hom te toets: “Is dit geoorloof vir 'n man om sy vrou te ontslaan?”

10:3 Maar in reaksie, het hy vir hulle gesê, “Wat het Moses jou beveel?”

10:4 En hulle het gesê, “Moses het toestemming gegee om ’n skeibrief te skryf en haar te ontslaan.”

10:5 Maar Jesus het gereageer deur te sê: “Dit was as gevolg van die hardheid van jou hart dat hy daardie voorskrif vir jou geskryf het.

10:6 Maar van die begin van die skepping af, God het hulle man en vrou gemaak.

10:7 As gevolg hiervan, 'n man sal sy vader en moeder agterlaat, en hy sal sy vrou aankleef.

10:8 And these two shall be one in flesh. En so, they are now, not two, but one flesh.

10:9 Daarom, what God has joined together, let no man separate.”

10:10 En weer, in the house, his disciples questioned him about the same thing.

10:11 En hy het vir hulle gesê: “Whoever dismisses his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her.

10:12 And if a wife dismisses her husband, and is married to another, she commits adultery.”
