Die Eerste Boek van Konings 18: 41-46

18:41	En Elia het vir Agab gesê: “Klim op; eet en drink. Want daar is die geluid van 'n oorvloed van reën.”
18:42	Agab het opgevaar, sodat hy kan eet en drink. Maar Elia het opgevaar na die top van Karmel, en buig af grond toe, hy plaas sy gesig tussen sy knieë.
18:43	En hy het vir sy dienaar gesê, “Klim op, en kyk uit na die see.” En toe hy opgevaar het, en besin het, hy het gesê, "Daar is niks." En weer, sê hy vir hom, “Keer sewe keer terug.”
18:44	En op die sewende keer, kyk, 'n wolkie het uit die see opgestyg soos die voetstap van 'n man. En hy het gesê: “Klim op, en sê vir Agab, ‘Draai jou strydwa, en daal af; andersins, die reën kan jou verhoed.’ ”
18:45	En terwyl hy homself hierdie kant toe en dat draai, kyk, die hemele is verduister, en daar was wolke en wind, en 'n groot reënbui het voorgekom. En so Agab, opgaan, het na Jisreël gegaan.
18:46	En die hand van die Here was op Elia. En om sy middel te knyp, hy het voor Agab gehardloop, totdat hy by Jisreël aangekom het.

Die Heilige Evangelie volgens Matteus 5: 20-26

5:20	Want Ek sê vir jou, that unless your justice has surpassed that of the scribes and the Pharisees you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
5:21	You have heard that it was said to the ancients: ‘You shall not murder; whoever will have murdered shall be liable to judgment.’
5:22	Maar ek sê vir jou, that anyone who becomes angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment. But whoever will have called his brother, ‘Idiot,’ shall be liable to the council. Toe, whoever will have called him, ‘Worthless,’ shall be liable to the fires of Hell.
5:23	Daarom, if you offer your gift at the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you,
5:24	leave your gift there, voor die altaar, and go first to be reconciled to your brother, and then you may approach and offer your gift.
5:25	Be reconciled with your adversary quickly, while you are still on the way with him, lest perhaps the adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you will be thrown in prison.
5:26	Amen sê ek vir jou, that you shall not go forth from there, until you have repaid the last quarter.
