The Second Book of Chronicles 36: 14-16, 19-23
| 36:14 | Toe ook, all the leaders of the priests, with the people, transgressed iniquitously, in accord with all the abominations of the Gentiles. And they polluted the house of the Lord, which he had sanctified to himself in Jerusalem. |

| 36:21 | and the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah would be fulfilled, and the land would celebrate her Sabbaths. For during all the days of the desolation, she kept a Sabbath, until the seventy years were completed. |
| 36:22 | Toe, in the first year of Cyrus, the king of the Persians, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord, which he had spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah, the Lord stirred up the heart of Cyrus, the king of the Persians, who commanded this to be proclaimed throughout his entire kingdom, and also in writing, sê: |
| 36:23 | “Thus says Cyrus, the king of the Persians: Die Here, the God of heaven, has given to me all the kingdoms of the earth. And he has instructed me that I should build for him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judea. Who among you is from his entire people? May the Lord his God be with him, and let him ascend.” |

John 3: 14- 21
| 3:14 | En net soos Moses die slang in die woestyn opgelig het, so moet ook die Seun van die mens verhoog word, |
| 3:15 | sodat elkeen wat in Hom glo, nie verlore mag gaan nie, maar kan die ewige lewe hê. |
| 3:16 | Want so lief het God die wêreld gehad dat Hy sy enigverwekte Seun gegee het, sodat almal wat in Hom glo, nie verlore mag gaan nie, maar kan die ewige lewe hê. |
| 3:17 | Want God het nie sy Seun na die wêreld gestuur nie, om die wêreld te oordeel, maar sodat die wêreld deur Hom gered kan word. |
| 3:18 | Wie in Hom glo, word nie geoordeel nie. Maar wie nie glo nie, is reeds geoordeel, omdat hy nie in die naam van die eniggebore Seun van God glo nie. |
| 3:19 | En dit is die oordeel: dat die Lig in die wêreld gekom het, en die mense het die duisternis meer liefgehad as die lig. Want hulle werke was boos. |
| 3:20 | Want elkeen wat kwaad doen, haat die Lig en gaan nie na die Lig toe nie, sodat sy werke nie reggemaak kan word nie. |
| 3:21 | Maar wie in waarheid handel, gaan na die Lig, sodat sy werke geopenbaar kan word, omdat hulle in God volbring is.” |
