First Reading
61:1 | The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me. He has sent me to bring good news to the meek, so as to heal the contrite of heart, to preach leniency to captives and release to the confined, |
61:2 | and so to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of vindication of our God: to console all who are mourning, |
61:3 | to take up the mourners of Zion and to give them a crown in place of ashes, an oil of joy in place of mourning, a cloak of praise in place of a spirit of grief. And there, they shall be called the strong ones of justice, the planting of the Lord, unto glorification. |
61:6 | But you yourselves will be called the priests of the Lord. It will be said to you, “You are the ministers of our God.” You will eat from the strength of the Gentiles, and you will pride yourself on their glory. |
61:8 | כי אני ה', who loves judgment and who holds hatred for robbery within a burnt offering. And I will turn their work into truth, and I will forge a perpetual covenant with them. |
61:9 | And they will know their offspring among the nations, and their progeny in the midst of the peoples. All who see them will recognize them: that these are the offspring whom the Lord has blessed. |

1:7 | לְהַבִּיט, he arrives with the clouds, and every eye shall see him, even those who pierced him. And all the tribes of the earth shall lament for themselves over him. |
1:8 | “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord God, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty. |

Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper
12:1 | The Lord also said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt: |
12:2 | “This month will be for you the beginning of the months. It will be first in the months of the year. |
On the tenth day of this month, let everyone take a lamb, by their families and houses. |
12:4 | But if the number is less than may suffice to be able to consume the lamb, he shall accept his neighbor, who has been joined with his house according to the number of souls that may suffice to be able to eat the lamb. |
12:5 | And it shall be a lamb without blemish, a one year old male. לפי הטקס הזה, you shall also take a young goat. |
12:6 | And you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month. And the entire multitude of the sons of Israel shall immolate it toward evening. |
12:7 | And they shall take from its blood, and place it on both the door posts and the upper threshold of the houses, in which they will consume it. |
12:8 | And that night they shall eat the flesh, roasted by fire, and unleavened bread with wild lettuce. |
12:11 | Now you shall consume it in this way: You shall gird your waist, and you shall have shoes on your feet, holding staves in your hands, and you shall consume it in haste. For it is the Passover (זה, the Crossing) of the Lord. |
12:12 | And I will cross through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from man, even to cattle. And I will bring judgments against all the gods of Egypt. |
12:13 | But the blood will be for you as a sign in the buildings where you will be. And I will see the blood, and I will pass over you. And the plague will not be with you to destroy, when I strike the land of Egypt. |
12:14 | Then you shall have this day as a memorial, and you shall celebrate it as a solemnity to the Lord, in your generations, as an everlasting devotion. |
13:1 | Before the feast day of the Passover, Jesus knew that the hour was approaching when he would pass from this world to the Father. And since he had always loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end. |
13:2 | And when the meal had taken place, when the devil had now put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him, |
13:3 | knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands and that he came from God and was going to God, |
13:4 | he rose up from the meal, and he set aside his vestments, and when he had received a towel, he wrapped it around himself. |
13:5 | Next he put water into a shallow bowl, and he began to wash the feet of the disciples and to wipe them with the towel with which he was wrapped. |
13:6 | And then he came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to him, "אָדוֹן, would you wash my feet?” |
What I am doing, you do not now understand. But you shall understand it afterward.” |
13:8 | Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you will have no place with me.” |
13:9 | Simon Peter said to him, “Then Lord, not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!” |
He who is washed need only wash his feet, and then he will be entirely clean. And you are clean, but not all.” |
13:11 | For he knew which one would betray him. מהסיבה הזו, הוא אמר, “You are not all clean.” |
13:12 | וכך, after he washed their feet and received his vestments, when he had sat down at table again, אמר להם: “Do you know what I have done for you? |
13:13 | You call me Teacher and Lord, and you speak well: for so I am. |
13:14 | לָכֵן, if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash the feet of one another. |
13:15 | For I have given you an example, so that just as I have done for you, so also should you do. |
