קריאה

The First Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians 2: 1-5

2:1	וכך, אחים, כשבאתי אליך, מכריז לך על עדות המשיח, לא הבאתי מילים נעלות או חוכמה נעלה.
2:2	כי לא שפטתי את עצמי לדעת דבר ביניכם, מלבד ישוע המשיח, והוא נצלב.
2:3	והייתי איתך בחולשה, ובפחד, ועם הרבה רעד.
2:4	ודברי והטפותי לא היו דברי השכנוע של חוכמת האדם, אלא היו ביטוי של הרוח ושל סגולה,
2:5	כדי שאמונתך לא תתבסס על חוכמת בני אדם, אלא על מעלת ה'.

The Holy Gospel According to Luke 4: 16-30

4:16	והוא הלך לנצרת, איפה הוא גדל. והוא נכנס לבית הכנסת, לפי מנהגו, ביום השבתון. והוא קם לקרוא.
4:17	וימסר לו ספר הנביא ישעיהו. וכשהוא פרש את הספר, הוא מצא את המקום שבו זה כתוב:
4:18	"רוח ה' עלי; בגלל זה, הוא משח אותי. הוא שלח אותי לבשר לעניים, לרפא את חרטת הלב,
4:19	להטיף סליחה לשבויים ולראייה לעיוורים, לשחרר את השבורים לסליחה, להטיף את שנת ה' החביבה ואת יום הגמול".
4:20	וכשהוא גלגל את הספר, הוא החזיר אותו לשר, והוא התיישב. ועיני כל בית הכנסת נשואות אליו.
4:21	ואז הוא התחיל לומר להם, "ביום הזה, הכתוב הזה התקיים בשמיעתכם."
4:22	וכולם מסרו לו עדות. ותמהו על דברי החסד היוצאים מפיו. והם אמרו, "האין זה בנו של יוסף?”
4:23	וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם: "בְּהֶחלֵט, you will recite to me this saying, ‘Physician, heal yourself.’ The many great things that we have heard were done in Capernaum, do here also in your own country.”
4:24	Then he said: "אמן אני אומר לך, that no prophet is accepted in his own country.
4:25	In truth, אני אומר לך, there were many widows in the days of Elijah in Israel, when the heavens were closed for three years and six months, when a great famine had occurred throughout the entire land.
4:26	And to none of these was Elijah sent, except to Zarephath of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
4:27	And there were many lepers in Israel under the prophet Elisha. And none of these was cleansed, except Naaman the Syrian.”
4:28	And all those in the synagogue, upon hearing these things, were filled with anger.
4:29	And they rose up and drove him beyond the city. And they brought him all the way to the edge of the mount, upon which their city had been built, so that they might thrown him down violently.
4:30	But passing through their midst, he went away.
