The First Letter of Saint John 3: 11- 21

3:11 For this is the announcement that you heard from the beginning: that you should love one another.
3:12 Do not be like Cain, who was of the evil one, and who killed his brother. And why did he kill him? Because his own works were wicked, but his brother’s works were just.
3:13 Má tá fuath ag an domhan ort, deartháireacha, do not be surprised.
3:14 We know that we have passed from death to life. For we love as brothers. An té nach bhfuil grá aige, abides in death.
3:15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding within him.
3:16 We know the love of God in this way: because he laid down his life for us. Agus mar sin, we must lay down our lives for our brothers.
3:17 Whoever possesses the goods of this world, and sees his brother to be in need, and yet closes his heart to him: in what way does the love of God abide in him?
3:18 Mo chlann mhac, ná bíodh grá againn i bhfocail amháin, ach in oibreacha agus i bhfírinne.
3:19 Ar an mbealach seo, beidh a fhios againn go bhfuil muid ar an fhírinne, agus molaimid ár gcroíthe ina radharc.
3:20 Mar fiú má dhéanann ár gcroí olc dúinn, Is mó Dia ná ár gcroí, agus is eol dó gach ní.
3:21 An chuid is mó beloved, mura ndéanann ár gcroí magadh orainn, is féidir linn muinín a bheith againn i leith Dé;
