First Book of Kings 3: 5, 7-12

3:5 Then the Lord appeared to Solomon, through a dream in the night, ag rá, “Request whatever you wish, so that I may give it to you.”

3:7 Agus anois, A Thiarna Dia, you have caused your servant to reign in place of David, m'athair. But I am a small child, and I am ignorant of my entrance and departure.

3:8 And your servant is in the midst of the people that you have chosen, an immense people, who are not able to be numbered or counted because of their multitude.

3:9 Dá bhrí sin, give to your servant a teachable heart, so that he may be able to judge your people, and to discern between good and evil. For who will be able to judge this people, your people, who are so many?”

3:10 And the word was pleasing before the Lord, that Solomon had requested this kind of thing.

3:11 And the Lord said to Solomon: “Since you have requested this word, and you have not asked for many days or for wealth for yourself, nor for the lives of your enemies, but instead you have requested for yourself wisdom in order to discern judgment:

3:12 Féach, I have done for you according to your words, and I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so much so that there has been no one like you before you, nor anyone who will rise up after you.

8:30 And those whom he predestinated, he also called. And those whom he called, he also justified. And those whom he justified, he also glorified.

Soiscéal

Matha 13: 44-52

13:44 Tá ríocht na bhflaitheas cosúil le taisce i bhfolach i bpáirc. Nuair a fhaigheann fear é, folaíonn sé é, agus, mar gheall ar a áthas, Téann sé agus díolann sé gach rud atá aige, agus ceannaíonn sé an pháirc sin.

13:45 Arís, tá ríocht na bhflaitheas cosúil le ceannaí ag lorg péarlaí maithe.

13:46 Tar éis péarla amháin a raibh an-luach air a fháil, d'imthigh sé agus dhíol sé gach a raibh aige, agus cheannaigh sé é.

13:47 Arís, tá ríocht na bhflaitheas cosúil le líontán a caitheadh san fharraige, a bhailíonn gach cineál éisc le chéile.

13:48 Nuair a bheidh sé líonta, ag tarraingt amach agus ina shuí cois an chladaigh, roghnaigh siad na earra ina soithí, ach an t-olc a chaith siad amach.

13:49 Is mar sin a bheidh sé i gcomhlíonadh na haoise. Rachaidh na hAingil amach agus scarfaidh na h-uilc ó mheadhon na gceart.

13:50 Agus cuirfidh siad isteach sa bhfoirnéis tine iad, áit a mbeidh gol agus gnashing fiacla.

13:51 Ar thuig tú na rudaí seo go léir?” Deir siad leis, “Tá.”

13:52 Dúirt sé leo, “Dá bhrí sin, gach scríobhaí múinte go maith faoi ríocht na bhflaitheas, Is cosúil le fear, an t-athair de theaghlach, a thairgeann óna stórlann an nua agus an sean.”
