Deotranaimí 30: 15-20

30:15 Consider what I have set forth in your sight this day, life and good, nó, on the opposite side, death and evil,
30:16 so that you may love the Lord your God, and walk in his ways, and keep his commandments and ceremonies and judgments, and so that you may live, and he may multiply you and bless you in the land, which you shall enter in order to possess.
30:17 But if your heart will have been turned aside, so that you are not willing to listen, agus, having been deceived by error, you adore strange gods and serve them,
30:18 then I predict to you this day that you will perish, and you will remain for only a short time in the land, for which you shall cross the Jordan, and which you shall enter in order to possess.
30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Dá bhrí sin, choose life, so that both you and your offspring may live,
30:20 and so that you may love the Lord your God, and obey his voice, and cling to him, (for he is your life and the length of your days) and so that you may live in the land, about which the Lord swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, agus Iacób, that he would give it to them.

Soiscéal

An Soiscéal Naofa de réir Lúcáis 9: 22-25

9:22 ag rá, “Oir ní mór do Mhac an duine a lán rudaí a fhulaingt, agus a bheith diúltaithe ag na seanóirí agus ceannairí na sagairt agus na scríobhaithe, agus a maraíodh, agus ar an tríú lá éirigh arís.”
9:23 Ansin dúirt sé le gach duine: “Má tá éinne sásta teacht i mo dhiaidh: a shéanadh é féin, agus tóg a chros gach lá, agus lean mé.
9:24 Le haghaidh an té a bheidh a shábháil ar a shaol, caillfidh sé é. Ach cibé duine a chaillfidh a shaol ar mo shon, sábhálfaidh sé.
9:25 Mar a théann sé chun sochair fear, if he were to gain the whole world, yet lose himself, or cause himself harm?
